It's such a hassle to change this feature each time you are in and out of perspective mode when looking at viewports, especially when doing interior scenes. 45 deg. is not the most optimal when looking at different interior perspectives for me. FormZ has this feature called "3 Point Perspective." it it works really well and gives you a better vantage point when creating objects or scenes and it doesn't go out of that mode unless you change it.
I've had Autodesk support try to help me with this but I see it's more a programing thing. I don't find the work around as effective. I'm not always locked to one area in an interior scene. Using a designated camera to move throughout the scene or a temp maxscript is just a patch to make it work. I don't understand why there is an option to change the value in the Per-View Preferences if it will not stay put. Please add a feature in that window where you can at least put a check box to unlock and lock a value perspective of preference. Better yet, look at how FormZ uses this feature.
