Good day Autodesk Team, it's great to be here, thank you for this opportunity.
The reason for my Idea is that I've recently updated to 2020 and it's very glitchy. When I press F10 to open the render settings the program crashes without a report window popping up, which it usually does. The default shading viewing setting doesn't work on my PC at all; I can only view in flat colour. The list goes on but where the rubber really hits the road are renders and what to do when they crash.
Even when the error dialog box does pop up after a program crash it isn't forthcoming in terms of solutions. Yes there is a minidump attached to it, but I'm not a computer programmer, I'm an industrial designer, I don't have time to trawl through it and to be honest I'm actually not even sure where to find it... so what might a possible solution be?
My thinking is that a snapshot of the V-Ray message dialog box should be captured in the crash report, as this disappears when the program crashes and is often the only way for a non-programmer to have an inkling into what happened or caused the crash. This snap shot should be readily available and openly displayed in the crash report; there is no point in having it and then not being able to access it easily and quickly. This would give me/us something to go on; something to Google and hopefully a possible solution comes from that investigation.
Obviously my real desire, however unrealistic this may sound, is that the program identifies where the fault is and gives direct instructions on how to resolve it. What's really frustrating, exhausting and stressful is when you just need the program to render out your deliverables, because you're on a tight deadline, and for some reason it decides now is the time to crash and you have no idea on how to fix it. This means late nights, diminished output and a shaky relationship with the program.
This is where I am now, but I'm hopeful that something can be done and I believe it can, that's why I've taken the time to communicate my Ideas. Thanks so much for the awesome program Autodesk Team and for being open to suggestion from your users.
