In these days when mid-high cpus has 8-16 cores and x2 threads it could be huge improvements! +1

While we are threading what we can and where we can with both new and old functionality (based on priority of performance and usage), one should note that threading alone does not always equate to better performance. There are many different ways that we can improve performance and efficiency in how 3ds Max operates and threading is one of them. Problems can occur from threading though most notably "spinning" of cores while they wait for the process to end and using memory needlessly are two notable problems that can occur, as well as introducing potential instability is not one that anyone wants, and as such this work is being done carefully and methodically where/when it can as we continue to evolve 3ds Max.

With regards to this request please state specific items (if you can one per idea post) as it will make it easier to sort through and check off when the work is completed.

@logan_foster_adsk Understandable I appreciate your comment but if this is the case what about creating totally a new viewport at least like in Maya or Blender it's definitely outdated and slow in some cases in 3ds Max.

In regards to the viewports. Hydra compatible viewports are the future going forward for tools like 3ds Max and Maya. Many different rendering technologies are Hydra compatible, here is just one example that Autodesk is working on (but there are many different ones available today) https://github.com/Autodesk/Aurora
