Improvement: UV Editor "Display Only Selected Polygons" function

Improvement: UV Editor "Display Only Selected Polygons" function

Hello,

Clicking this button in the UV editor hides all unselected polygons/vertices in the UV editor. The problem comes when you unhide everything by clicking the button again and collapse the modifier stack and return to "Editable Poly". The vertices will remain hidden and you have to then manually click the "Unhide All" while in the "Vertices" selection mode.

I feel that once you click the "Display Only Selected Polygons" again in the UV editor once you are done, it should automatically unhide everything, including the vertices.

Cheers,

Milos

I think this is more of a bug/overseen aspect of the UVW Unwrap editor, but nevertheless I feel annoyed by this behavior as well. Please fix this.

Agreed, this is a very weird bug that has existed for far too long!

Weird, I just had the same issue and found this.

Please fix Autodesk, would really help me out.

The suggestion to automatically unhide all vertices when clicking "Display Only Selected Polygons" again in the UV editor is a practical one. It would enhance user convenience and workflow efficiency in 3D modeling software like 3ds Max.

Currently, the need to manually unhide vertices can disrupt the creative process and slow down productivity. Implementing this improvement would align with user expectations for a seamless experience, making the tool more user-friendly and intuitive. Such ehancements are essential for optimizing user satisfaction and productivity in complex software environments like 3D modeling applications.

I don't know if you are aware of the default shortcut Alt+U which will unhide all vertices. It's a bit faster than clicking. But yes, I support the idea, we should not be dealing with this bug at all.

The most jarring problem with this behavior is, that until you actually go inside that object's Edit Poly -> Vertex Mode, you can't really see if those vertices are hidden or not. Also, if they are, you can't snap to them, you can't paint vertex colors etc.

Most often I find I have hidden vertices only after when I'm working with another object and I want to snap it to already unwrapped one, so it takes even longer to fix this. Although you can bind Edit Poly ->Unhide All command to a shortcut, it only works if you are actually inside the Edit Poly's Vertex subobject mode.

BUT, for the love of everything holy, please don' remove the filter function from the UV editor in order to fix this issue! Due to Max not having the ability to conveniently isolate parts of the model down to selected polys (like Maya's Isolate Selection can ) and severe limitations of UVW Unwrap when mapping multiple objects at once, using Filter selected faces is the only way in Max to effectively work with complex models consisting of multiple overlapping elements.
