Dear Autodesk Team, My name is Mahmoud, and I am an interior and furniture designer with extensive experience in 3D modeling, design development, and furniture manufacturing. I use Autodesk 3ds Max intensively—often for more than 14 hours a day—to model furniture, develop interior spaces, and turn creative ideas into detailed, production-ready designs. One of the biggest challenges I face comes after completing the modeling and design stages. Setting up cameras, lighting, materials, and render settings to achieve a realistic result can take three hours or more for every project. This reduces the time designers can spend developing better concepts and exploring new creative ideas. I would therefore like to propose developing an integrated AI-powered rendering assistant for 3ds Max. This feature could automatically analyze the scene and help users: Create professional camera angles. Set up realistic lighting. Optimize materials and reflections. Recommend suitable render settings. Produce high-quality, photorealistic results faster. Preserve the original modeling, dimensions, materials, and design details. Generate multiple render variations without rebuilding the scene. The goal would be to allow designers to complete the model and then use AI to prepare the scene for rendering quickly, while still giving them full control over the final result. This could save professionals several hours on every project and help them present their ideas to clients much faster. The service could be offered as an affordable weekly, monthly, or annual add-on for existing 3ds Max users. With Autodesk’s global customer base, even a low-cost subscription could create a valuable new revenue stream while making 3ds Max more competitive and efficient. I would be interested in discussing this concept with Autodesk and contributing my practical experience as an interior and furniture designer. I would also like to explore a formal collaboration or revenue-sharing arrangement, such as a small percentage of subscription sales, if Autodesk is interested in developing and commercializing the idea. I believe that combining Autodesk’s technology with the real workflow experience of professional designers could create a powerful solution with significant value for both Autodesk and its users. About Scanline Rendering. Currently, RenderingElements become unavailable when anti-aliasing is disabled. It would be very helpful if RenderingElements could be enabled even when anti-aliasing is off. Ideally, it would be great to have a feature that outputs all RenderingElements without anti-aliasing. The Standard Bitmap node hasn't beed updated since ages or the very beginning. We need Bicubic Interpolation in Standard Bitmap node - like in OSL UberBitmap or Corona Render or anything else.   Unfortunately I can't use OSL UberBitmap because textures with alpha gets the dirty outline. I also can't use Corona Bitmap because its slow and cant wire the offset parameter to manipulator.   Also, we need additinoal node that can extract alpha channel as grey from the btmap. The idea is to extend the existing XRef Material functionality in 3ds Max to support not only .max files but also .mat material library files as a source for linked materials across multiple scenes and projects. Currently, XRef Materials only allow users to reference materials from external .max files. While this is useful in some cases, working with a large number of scenes where consistency is crucial would benefit greatly from a central .mat material library that can be updated on the fly. Having to open a separate .max file just to tweak materials can be cumbersome and wastes valuable time that could be spent on look development. By allowing .mat files to be directly referenced as XRef Materials, updates made to the material library would automatically propagate to all linked scenes or could be refreshed manually with a button—similar to the current XRef Material workflow. This enhancement would streamline project-wide material management, reduce redundant steps, and significantly speed up iteration cycles. Additionally, a "Realize Material" button would allow users to break the link to the library and convert the material into a local instance when the live reference is no longer needed. This would provide maximum flexibility for final look adjustments without losing the benefits of centralized material control. Please implement the SKP file type support in Manage Links,  especially with "Combine by Material" option (all other other link options we have with fbx\dwgs files are welcomed as well.   The current importer is nice but has a fundamental flow - it explodes all SU components to the most primitive level so in the end user gets unmanageable number of objects (typically  0.5 million entities in our practice). BTW Sketchup is dominating software in architecture field (20B install worldwide) and adding skp link would lead to further Max strengthening as well. Thanks for attention   Show More

I would really like to see a pause button added to rendering. It would be especially useful for renders that take a long time. There are so many good reasons that include everyday occurrences that would make this very beneficial to a lot of people. I am surprised that such a commonsense function does not exist yet as a basic normal default option at this point in time. A great idea would be to remove the mess from the window that reminds me that I still have 15 days of subscription I'm not an idiot I know what I have paid and how much time remaining. The window is very annoying and the procedure is kinda unsympathetic to put me to give a click at each startup of the program. There's a way to turn off that garbage?   Another great idea for all products it is to visit the chaos.com page You will see how to build a CLEAR web page where you can find anything immediately.   An even better idea would be to buy a product from Chaos and study how it works. Everything is packed in a single file not 14 rubbish that give errors and contradict each other. In the installation file you can find everything. I don't talk about rendering in the Cloud, where Autodesk makes a joke with the A360. Study how real professionals do, and maybe you somehow do the same next year. Hi, dear Autodesk developers.   So I already spoke with Ephere(Ornatrix) and OTOY(Octane) teams and they said, that I should write a message to you 😃 Because this is 3ds max issue. I think they've already written to you about it, too. But since they asked me to make such a topic, here I am fulfilling that condition. So, really proof that they were writing about a issue on the 3ds Max side. Also they said, in this topic, that this is an Ornatrix issue - https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=80910 But Ephere said, that I should speak with you.   And if you really believe Bikram's letter from Otoy, I really should do it 😃   So let's move on to the issue itself. The point is that when we assign Octane Hair Material in a scene, it stops displaying the selection of guides or hair in Edit Guides.     Timing: 0:00 - Creating the plane 0:04 - Applying Furball 0:11 - Create Edit Guides on top of HFG 0:20 - Turn on Display Strand Selection 0:28 - Turn on Hide Guide Gizmo 0:30 - Check Selection and see that everything is working 0:37 - Activate Octane Renderer 0:45 - Check the selection and see that everything is okay. 0:50 - Try to assign Octane Hair Material 0:57 - We see that the selection has disappeared 1:12 - Assign any other Octane material and the selection still doesn't work 1:19 - Activate Arnold Render and assign Arnold Standard Hair 1:31 - Selection visible again 1:37 - Select Octane 1:42 - Selection works as long as the Arnold Shader is assigned 1:44 - Assign Octane Hair again and see that the selection has stopped working Steps: - Create plane - Apply Furball - Add EG Above HFG - Turn on "Display Selection" - Select a few hairs and you will see selection - Select Octane Render - Apply any Octane Hair material and you will see that selection won't work Ornatrix 7.4.1.31744 [Nightly], 3ds max 2023, Octane 2022.1 - 13.12   The Otoy developer suggested that I can use Octane Shadow Matte, Octane Portal Mtl and Standard Material, and it really does. Arnold is a garbage render engine. Why on earth you decided to replace Mental Ray (or any other render engine) with Arnold is really beyond me. It has SO many problems rendering GPU. AND when you CAN get it to render with the GPU it "doesn't currently support" alpha transparency. So you know if you want to render water or glass or really anything with transparency you can't use Arnold GPU if you ACTUALLY want to have a transparent (not solid white) alpha. Please please for the love of all that is right and true, either get rid of Arnold or make them fix their GPU issues because ..... wow. Show More
