Did you mean:

Icons are too big in UV, Curve editor etc, they take the whole UI bars width

Icons are too big in UV, Curve editor etc, they take the whole UI bars width

as you can see in the atachements they  have basically no padding and fill almost the entire  width of the bars they are displayed on. Give them some space/padding to breath !

also pls  do smth with their size visual consistency. Even they have the same max size limit to fit in , they are in different shapes and they  give the impression they are  all kinds of sizes.

Many of our "task frames" do indeed have inconsistent UI elements, crowded toolbars and other problems related to the older UI code they are built on.  That is a bigger task, but in the meantime, I wonder if you know about the "Large Toolbar Icons" option in the preferences dialog (see attached image)? With the Slate Material Editor, we did not want to take up so much space in the toolbar, so we added an option to ignore the setting to use large icons.

I wonder if an "Ignore Large Icons Preference" option in the UV editor and Curve editor might help you?

well I think this is the main issue here.  All these editors dont need to share the same layout and proportions like the main UI and its toolbar. They should all have the same style and design but not the same proportions with regards to icons sizes, padding, separators etc.  I think the icons dont have to be actually on a different visual bar elements inside these editors, on a new UI element different than the Menu bar, at least at the visual level. Its just add even more to the visual clutter. Also it seems you are still very akeen to keep that embossed/gradient Menu bar star even  its 2017 and even you modernized the Menus and large parts of UI so much already. This should be gone  and definetely shouldnt have any business appearing in these special editors.

The new Maya has a very new neat and clean design of these special editors. Do you notice how the menu bar and toolbar are contiguous., there is no visual breakout and there is no need for that. Trying to bring the same " organization" from the main UI down to these little editors is harming them. And  with regards to my original post, the icon sizes, the padding around them and the separators are just perfect here .Kudos to the Maya team who worked on these refinements.

Can you pls do the same or even better with the ongoing Max UI revamp?

I almost forgot about the most critical implement of these refinements and this would be the UV editor.Maya with both the 2016 and current UV editos is again the most at hand example

Maya 2016 Editor was  so well organized with a single  top panel where all the  tools are nicely packed and grouped. Furthermore the icon size is the proper one (not too big and not too small) and their size is consistent  across the whole UI. The current one doesnt have the best workflow but the icons and toolbar follow the same style.

this might very well fit into another topic but the layout of the Curve editor and  UV editor  could be much simpler and compact in Max and this small refinements to the toolbars can help in that mattter even though i think this can be done noetheless. For example why the Curve editor need an extra tooolbar on the bottom ? The same for  Max UV editor. If the icons better packed together they can be added all on top or/and left toolbar in case of UV editor.
