Expand the Connect Vert Functionality - Likened to Blender.

I've recently had a baby and during my time off on paternity leave, I took to learning some Blender, because why not? And one thing I was left desperately wanting for 3ds max after doing some modelling in Max was their vert connect functionality. Please observe.

Blenders connect vert to vert functionality.Blenders connect vert to vert functionality.

See how, despite there being an edge separating each vert from one-another, connecting them still works and adds an additional vert to the connecting vertical edge. This works even when there are multiple edges between two points.

I think this would really help with modelling a lot in max. It makes things that much easier. Honestly, it feels amazing to do this and feels odd that we dont have this in max.

How about it?

If you want to be able to do that in max, have a look at CrossCut (for identical behavior to what you're showing, you want the crossCutByNormal one).

isnt atool in 3ds max called distance connect that works in this cases ?

Thanks @Swordslayer that looks like a great script, I'll have to take a look at that.

@Kranos_Orphydian Just tried it in both edit poly and editable poly mode and doesn't seem to work at all. What is it supposed to do?

I guess, a script will definitely suffice but it would be really nice if it was just a 1 click operation through 'connect' and not needing a script.

its under Loops category on Modeling ribbon.  To me it works fine and works both in vertex and edges mode. Is the Blender tool working on edges as well ?

also that script does more than you can do In Blender or Max. It creates a cut no matter the position of the 2 vertices.

@Kranos_Orphydian Ah that's really cool! Thanks for linking that, for some reason i couldn't find it using it's name in the documents.

Yeah i've set that script up to a shortcut already and works really great. Thanks for all the help everyone and seems like this idea is almost, almost redundant. If only it was integrated into the connect tool it would be perfect!

@tom.butters so is the default Distance Connect working fine at least ?

@Kranos_Orphydian Sorry for the late reply, not that I have found. It might be that the hotkey is broken but I've had to rely more so on the crosscut script.
