Editable Poly Modifier Rollout order inconsistency

Editable Poly Modifier Rollout order inconsistency

Posting here to see if it's a bug or someone can point to a solution.

I have the Command Panel detached from the main Window. Just mentioning as it might be relevant.

So what happens is when I'm handling a large quantity of object and all of those will be Editable Polys, the position of each RollOut menus are not usually consistent.

For example, for some reason sometimes Edit Polygon, Edit Geometry or Polygon: Smoothing Groups will be on different places or colapsed depending on the object I have selected and I myself haven't changed them.

I completely defeats the muscle memory as I'm reaching for a buttons that constantly changing places and which I don't have hotkeys for them.

Using Max 2018 update 4. I can not reproduced it. Max remembers the order of the sections of the edit and editable poly menus each time that Max re start.  Tested with the command panel detached and 69 objects.   Swapping between them or with other not poly object  the order won't change.

Perhaps you could provide a file where that happens. It seems a bug.

The same thing happens with other Modifiers.

Unwrap UVW, The Edit UVW windows when using two screen is constantly moving all over the place. If I do a Pelt Map, The Edit UVW windows resizes to some default size and position. Do I need to every time set the preferences for Unwrap Option to display Height and Width to a different size. Why isn't an standard interface configuration that affects the same modifier on different objects?

Do you mean you have the Edit UVWs window open and use the pelt? In my case the window won't change the size but the working area zoom out to give space to the pelt tools. What version of Max are you using?

I'm using 2017 with latest update according to the Update application.

I've been having some issues with with the UI in general since I've tried to add to my custom interface the Enhanced Menus. I might just update to 2018 and only reload my hotkeys into the new updated version and follow the procedures on this page. Just Haven't come to it yet.

With the Pelt Map I've found out what was happening.

I was using Windows sticky windows (When you snap a window to a corner of the Screen and window resizes to conform to a portion of the screen).

Now I've just resized the Edit UVWs window without letting it snap to the screen limits and it keeps it's position, although from object to object I still have to move the Edit UVW window to my second screen and resize it.

Thank you for the reply and help.

2018 has a new interface based in a different code. Visually doesnt look very different but it is more customizable and feels better in general. I guess is a code change to allow features and fixes

Have the same issue. 3ds Max 2018, every time I open modifier it has different order of rollouts? Also UI is super laggy, it takes a few seconds for modifier to load even though I have a very powerful PC. Did you find a solution?
