Direct Support for Head Mounted Displays

Direct Support for Head Mounted Displays

I would like to see support for a Nitrous API to support Head Mounted Displays such as the VIVE, Oculus, HoloLens and other systems coming onto the market. While I have seem suggestions of using Stingray, Unity or Unreal as a tool for viewing with these systems, this requires too much effort and a separate environment from where the user can experience their scene.

It is much more efficient to view inside 3ds max. While there might be frame rate limitations and other issues, depending on the complexity of the scene, these are often mitigated by the ability for the user to interact virtually with the scene assets directly. This would also help with 3D stereo viewing.

Hi @mark_kauffman

Thank you for your submission. I'm not sure this would be worth in the investment and does not seem to a very popular idea. I'm going to archive this for the time being to clear the way for some other ideas, but if you hear of some emerging trends or any reason why you think Autodesk and the 3ds Max community should take a closer look at this, please feel to re-post it and get a discussion going.
