Dimension and Documentation

Dimension and Documentation

There are many architectural designers using 3DS max but it's hard to make control drawings out with 3DS max.

Recently many designers are switching over to other software because of that.

3Ds max needs a simple dimension and annotation tools that can easily create documents that can explain sizes and material callouts etc....

Thanks,

I can't believe that 3Ds Max doesn't have a proper dimension tool to make a control drawing.

It's a very simple primitive tool that even Sketch up has.

It would be great 3Ds Max implements a tool that can make dimension documents and call outs for material.

A lot of architects need the tool ASAP.

Thanks for the scripts.

I've tried DiMaster and some other scripts but they are still sloppy and takes some time to make it work.

I hope Autodesk references how Sketchup is doing. It just works great and easy in Sketchup but no solution in MAX yet.

Can you post a link to a video that shows how the Dimension and Documentation in Sketchup works?

Welcome to the great company
I wish to add a professional tool to measure the figures and also write dimensions with precision and speed, such as AutoCAD and Revit
And also take the SECTIONS in a professional and easy, such as Revit
This point is a great program like the rich 3D max
I have always had to take out the design from Max to REVIT to take the SECTIONS AND ELEVATION and then to AutoCAD to show the dimensions
greetings to you all

This is a great idea! Is so frustrating no to have simple dimension and annotation tools

There is a need within the Exhibit Design community as well. Our concepts need to be estimated and built and there's no direct way translate concepts with dimensions and notes that can be interpreted by a cost estimator or to make shop drawings. I use Sketchup and previously used Form Z which both have this feature.

Another Max user wishing for simple dimension and annotation tools.

Bonjour tous,

Mods, there are multiple threads about the same desire to have some form of dimension string functionality in max, which dilutes the perceived need. This is something basic Max users have been asking for a decade. C'mon, time to give something to the architectural community.

Guess I'll just bump this thread and ask for this feature as well. DIMaster looks like the right tool, but can't get it to work in max 2023 since the plugin itself doesn't look like it's been updated since 2008.

hope someone at Autodesk revisits this idea.
