Coloured layers options in Scene Explorer side panel

Coloured layers options in Scene Explorer side panel

Controls for changing individual layer colours in the docked scene explorer panel. The same way layers can be coloured in Photoshop.

Ability to select a layer and/or objects in that layer and change the layer colour with 'change object wire colour' as an option.

Coloured layers display should able to be toggled to display /wire-colours-only/layer-colours-only/both/ as options.

I hide/unhide layers often, it would be useful to have the layers themselves colored so they stand out and are easier to identify, especially when importing hundreds of CAD layers that are similarly named. Idea could be developed to assign imported data to new random layer colours etc...

@Anonymous, thanks for the suggestion!

very good one . Strange Max Scene explorer doesnt have this already-

I know that the best practice is to make isolated suggestions instead of more general ones but there are lots of small but very handy ideas here on the forums that could very well pass under the radar and not given enough credit if taken alone in regards to the Scene Explorer and Layer Explorer bigger picture. Therefore Ive made a robust compilation of some directions in which the Scene Explorer can be improved and included this idea as well.

[Scene Explorers] Improved design and functionality

I wanted to add a voice to this request.

Per-line colors is a feature that I came to miss when I had to switch to 3DS Max.
It would make the scene explorer hierarchy faster to navigate when rigging.
I've tried using the color column, but coloring the text or background of a line would be even better.

Follow this request. Miss this feature in max.It's hard to read max scene explorer without color code.

Did this ever get implemented? I struggle really hard to differentiate the layers, slows me down massively as they are all a bland grey color.

Bump for this!

Just wandering the reason why this is not implemented yet...
