Bring back the LOCK PAN/ZOOM background images checkbox

Bring back the LOCK PAN/ZOOM background images checkbox

I have some drawings that I'd like to display as guides in my FRONT and RIGHT viewports. I'd like to be able to 'lock' them in place so that when I zoom in and out of the model I'm working on, the images also zoom in and out and remain in the same place as when I started creating objects.

I was able to do this in Max 2013 but later versions don't have a working checkbox to lock the pan and zoom of background images in ANY VIEWPORT I wish.

I have read many posts by people asking the same thing only to be told 'it doesn't work like that anymore' - 'you can't do that' and, the plumper, 'create planes and apply the background images to those' - which is a timeconsuming and inefficient 'work  around'.

Can anyone tell me WHY the background image Lock checkbox/function has been removed?

and the idea suggested here is... bring it back!

Thanks for the reply Ehsan, but those links don't answer the question and I want to be able to use background images in the NON orthographic viewports - front, back, left, right, etc.,

I DO NOT GET WHY this function has been removed.

It works in 2013 and previous versions...

The function is REALLY REALLY USEFUL to those who use it and is A GREAT DEAL faster than adding geometry into a scene to apply textures to (for modelling guides).

I've used 3DS MAX since 1999 and use it 8 HOURS EVERY WORKING DAY - I'm not a part-time user and I feel this is a very valid question that needs an answer from Autodesk given the cost of the software and its integration into many workplaces.

Same complaint here..    It´s stupidity to remove features that are useful,  who t.f. works at autodesk??
The software price is not the cheapest thing, so , yes, We need answers from Autodesk,  was really that difficult to mantain that option??

Bring it back. It worked. Don't fix it. Bring it back. I use it to teach 3DS max for beginners at the working with splines stage...BEFORE they do materials.

BRING IT BACK.

Yes, please bring it back or better yet just make it the standard for viewport backgrounds to zoom with the viewport. (which is what you want obviously for modeling references)
Besides the actual inconvenience I'm a little disappointed how this kind of downgrade is a slap in the face for long term users and eventually the most loyal customer base. 😉
