Allow mixed selections of Objects and SubObjects

Hello!

When modelling, it should be possible to transform a mixed selection of Objects and SubObjects!

Objects should somehow remember their state 'Object' or 'SubObject'.

Rhino supports this:

It has no 'SubObject' mode in that sense, but a similar concept would be the command 'Points On' for an object. (However, points, edges, surfaces/polys can be selected anyway anytime using some key combination). It remembers the object's 'mode' then until ESC is pressed, or 'Points Off' is run. That way, it is very simple to move components (points, edges, surfaces etc.) and objects together.

Softimage supports this, too - it's called 'Extended Selection'.

Why should this not be possible in 3ds Max? Move/rotate/scale Objects, Points, edges, polygons, Gizmos, ... all in one go, if needed.

Of course this workflow needs to be thought through properly, but it makes perfect sense!

Here's a mockup:

Additionally, to complement mixed Object/SubObject selection toggling, it should be possible to keep multiple (dockable) Modify Panels open - given the Command Panel was split into it's separate parts/tabs, like in this idea.

Thanks!!

Hi!

Everybody opinionless about this? Come on, it's a good thing!

Guess it's the "I don't miss what I don't know" phenomenon again...
