Solved: wont load bip files

Hello all,

i am having trouble loading bip files onto the motion mixer, I have downloaded the newest service pack and it still wont load,

does anyone know any other way of how I can do this?

what problem are you help it just does not load or a bug?,

I think it may be a bug as 3ds max closes when I try to load the file and an error report comes on, I have reinstalled the software but it still happens

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

Chances are that .bip file is corrupted or somehow using a format that Max doesn't like. Some .bips come also as .bvh files, does that one have a corresponding .BVH? Would it be possible to attach the .bip to a post or PM me a link so I can test it? I do see your crash logs but they don't tell me enough to give a good answer here without the file to test.

Which version of 3ds Max is this for, please? Lastly, is this happening for all .BIPs or just the one? Thanks for the information.

Sorry about the late reply,

I think the files are just BIP but I tried to attach them for you to look at but it wont let me send as it says it doesn't have a valid extension?

How would I send them to you in a link?

the version of 3ds max is 2015 and it happens to all of them, sometime I can catch it and it works but I load it up again and it crashes.

No worries, I'll help in any way I can. You can zip up the bips and the forum would accept that, or I could create a private folder for you to upload to, or you can use a service like WeTransfer and send me a private message with the link. (To send a private message, just hover over my name near my pic and then hit "Send Message".) If you want a private folder, just say the word.

If it's working sometimes but not all the time, that is a bit odd. Is it always the same ones that do and don't work? Also, do you have the latest service pack? Thanks for the information.

Thank you for the attachment @Anonymous, I appreciate it.

I think the problem here is that these files are not .bip files technically, but .CPY files which are for poses, postures, and tracks. If you have animated the biped and you want to save out a .bip instead of a .cpy you can do so on the rollout titled "Biped" rather than the one labelled "Copy/Paste". If these were purchased, they aren't actually .bip files. If you made them and wanted to save out animation from a biped, just use the other rollout save. I have a screenshot below to make this more clear and please let me know if you have any questions, I'll do whatever I can to help.

I see, these do work for me without issues. I recorded a video just to make sure we're using the same process. Would you please watch it (it's short) just to ensure we're on the same page?

If that fails, I think we should try to reset your user settings. Can you please try that for me too, please?

I am still having problems with this issue,

I cant seem to reset any user settings because I cant find any folders that the walkthrough is showing me,

I figured how to reset the user settings but the problem still occurs, I went straight into the motion mixture and tried to add a file but was unable to and the program shut down.

hello,

I have finally managed go get two bip files on the motion mixer. its a bit touch and go at the moment. but now I cant seem to get the animations to work from the motion mixer. I'm hoping anyone could see where I'm going wrong, I have attached a file.

Looks like things are moving forward, that's great! The file is missing the bips which does create a bit of a problem when it comes to previewing what you're got, can you please attach the bips as well or PM me a link to them so I can preview them?
