Wonder Dynamics launches Wonder Animation Beta

Hey forums friends 👋

Passing along a really interesting project the Wonder Dynamic's team has been working on, they just launched the beta version of Wonder Animation, you can check it out here!

Wonder Animation uses cutting-edge video-to-3D scene technology to turn any video sequence into a 3D-animated scene. You can film and edit sequences with multiple cuts and various shots, then use AI to reconstruct the scene in a 3D space and match the position and movement of each camera’s relationship to the characters and environment.

This essentially creates a virtual representation of an artist’s live-action scene containing all camera setups and character body and face animation in one 3D scene, with fully editable elements (animation, character, environment, lighting, and camera tracking data) in tools like Maya, Blender or Unreal.

Please let me know if you try it out, I'm curious to hear yall's thoughts 👀

Surprisingly, 3ds max is not on that list. Blender is, though. lol
This confirms that Autodesk has abandoned 3ds max.

Hi @aksmfakt132 ,

The Wonder Dynamics team would like to note that Wonder Animation is cross compatible with 3ds Max and other 3d applications that have USD import capabilities, you can check out more here.

Autodesk is still investing into 3ds Max as a tool, check out the latest 2025 update 3 improvements here, and new learning content on the Learning Channel here! Oh and we also recently released a procedural modeling workflow series with Paul Neale on the Autodesk M&E channel here 😄

Lemme know if you want more info on USD and i can try to help out!

I know usd

In short, Maya, Blender can be used even if it is directly linked, but 3d Max should use the file conversion using USD like Fbx. This is the same as no support

All they need to do is provide the same support as Maya in the first place and display it on their web pages. Using usd is just a joke

I bet there is no direct 3ds Max path is because the original developers did not implement it. Autodesk bought the whole thing half a year ago or so, its not an Autodesk internal effort
If i speculate, i also think a factor to not support 3ds max directly might be the fact that Maya has the text based .ma scene format available, while 3ds Max has no such thing.  ( They deliver the maya scene in text based .ma format )
But as said, this is just speculation
And of course Maya has historically  a bigger standing in character animation
