We’ve just relocated to a new building at work and in the new place I’ve started getting a white screen problem for the simple things. I can work just fine for a while and all of the sudden I might move something or click on something and everything stops. It seems to be trying to refresh but it never comes back. I’m wondering if it could be a network problem because I never had this problem before we moved. The only thing is I’m not saving at the time nor is it doing an autosave. Anyone have any thought as to why this is happening? I’ve had to restart the file 6 times and redo what I’ve lost each time. I’m getting really frustrated.

Hello D.R.-
I am sorry to hear about problems you are having with your installation. Maybe try resetting 3ds Max as a test, but to me it kinda sounds like a network issue. Please let me know if resetting works.
Thank you.

I have a similar issue all the time. max not responding. something is causing it to stall, just can not figure it out. it really sucks if you forget to save and have been running at full speed, then have to do it all over again.
Hello D.R.
Are you still experiencing the white screen?
If so are you receiving an errors at all? Without errors the best we can do is suggest things like resetting 3ds Max, checking your network and possibly removing 3ds Max and reinstalling.
Please let me know your status. Maybe you could record what happens when you get white screen with Screencast.
Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
Best Regards,

I'm back to the White Screen or freezing problem. Question: isn't 3ds max 2017 supposed to be better with memory usage? Can't you isolate objects or turn off parts with layers and max will only calculate the visible objects in the scene? I've turned off layers and Isolated a few parts and Max still seems to be calculating all of the hidden parts as well. I only get about 2 or 3 moves and it freezes for about 2 minutes before I can move my next 2 or 3 moves.
I've upgraded to 3ds Max 2024 and I haven't had any of the problems, yet. We'll see if it continues.
