Weird Chamfer Glitch

XAWFV7Wve2.gif

Chamfer settings:

DW5PToN

I am not sure why this is happening. It seems that the chamfer modifier is not working correctly on small angles. This only happens on Quad mitering. If I set mitering to tri, it will work correctly. I want it to work properly on quad mitering since it gives nicer topology. Is there any work around to this? Has anyone got any ideas? I am using Max 2020.3

Cheers,

Bhavik

Thanks for your reply!

Min Max are unchecked.

I have tried chamfer in edit poly and its the same problem. I am not sure how to go around this. Seems to be a bug in Max.

I have recorded me recreating this bug/glitch:

Can anyone else try to reproduce it? How do I report this as a bug?

Cheers,

Bhavik

I can confirm that, the bigger the number of segments, the higher threshold angle where the segments are planar. Looks like float imprecision during the calculation. You can submit the bugreport here: http://www.autodesk.com/3dsmax-bugreport
