Hello, not the first time face with such a problem:
if I use the hotkey "Z" and then twist around the selected object and then for example click on empty space to deselect object viewport position goes in strange position (sometimes too far)

the same problem i had in 3ds max 2016

my scene is not so big or small, so i dont really anderstand why it heppends

What i can do to fix it?

P.S. Sorry for bad english

Hi tarnum888

In Actually there is few way to do Fix this problem

  -  Reset the User defined Viewport

  -  In Customize panel Reset the setting

  -  Restart the program

  -  If any of above does not help Uninstall the max and reinstall it.

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,  (also, welcome to you too @Anonymous)

I've seen this a few times and it can be annoying when it happens.  Usually this is happening because the size of the objects in the scene don't match the system units.  The most frustrating thing is that it can't always be reproduced so if I tried it on your file for example this may not happen for me.  Many of the suggestions by @Anonymous are valid, but you probably don't need to uninstall and reinstall, resetting your user settings may help instead.

Are you using any XRef's here?  What are your current system (not display) units?  Thank you for the information.

Best Regards,

No i am not using XRef's

My current system units are set to centimeters

Anyway, thanks for answers, but i decided this problem by using hotkey "Z" on one of the hidden objects and the problem disappeared
