Hello @G ,  Gerry,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Were you installing 3ds Max 2022 from Autodesk Desktop App, Account portal or trial download?  Have you tried deleting the previous downloads and redownload them?

Do you mind sharing the install logs in the %localappdata%\autodesk\ODIS folder?  Can you zip the whole folder and share it?

Best regards,

Libei

Hello Libei,  thank you for assisting.

I was installing from the 3ds Max 2022 from Autodesk Desktop App (the file name is Autodesk_3ds_Max_2022_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_ML_setup_webinstall.exe and the size is 8,505KB).  I have downloaded this files twice.  Will do again

I also tried to download the main application (the file is called Autodesk_3ds_Max_2022_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_001_004.sfx.exe and the size is 2,065,823KB - this file fails to install also - twice.  Have you tried deleting the previous downloads and redownload them? Yes OK, Ill try to download again.

Do you mind sharing the install logs in the %localappdata%\autodesk\ODIS folder?  Can you zip the whole folder and share it?  I'm not sure the install process gets that far.  Can you let me know the full path to the above folder.  Attached is what I think is the zipped file

Thankyou

Garry

Hello Garry,

The file size from Autodesk Desktop App is right.  Any luck with that one?

The download from the Account portal has 4 parts of 3x2GB and 1 about 434MB.  Make sure you disabled the popup blockers on your browser before downloading it.

I downloaded again - with the same result as the screen shot - it fails

I did not know the download from the Account portal was 5 parts (3x2GB and 1 about 434MB).  Make sure you disabled the popup blockers on your browser before downloading it.  Firewall off and popup blockers disabled.  This will take some time to download. regards Garry

hello Libei,

I also installed:

AdskLicensing-installer.exe size 86,740KB and

autodesk-licensing-certificate-installer.msi size 588KB

as I thought this was a licensing issue.

regards

Garry

hello Libei, is there a way to get direct links to the other installable files.

The download seems to stop after the first file

Autodesk_3ds_Max_2022_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_001_004.sfx (1).exe

Hello Garry,

You can try Download Now option:
download-now.PNG

It'll download the Download Manager.  It's only 1 file.  Then the download manager will download the complete installer.  🤞

Here is a video showing the Download Now.   https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/e67bc27f-c999-456f-94c3-3f622b343d66

Let me know if this is helpful.

I installed 3ds max twice and I have this problem when launching the software. Has anyone had the same problem and knows how to solve it?

Hi Silveria,

Did you install from the four 2GB installers or the desktop installer

If you don't see the four installers - I had that same problem and turning off firewall and popup blocked fixed that

Once that happened 3DS Max installed no problems

Hi G!

tried to install through the four files the problem wih the sotftware launch no longer appears. However, when I click the right mouse button to launch the context menu, it still indicates an error.

Might be that an autocreated config file has the wrong path stored in it ...

  • search for the file MaxDotNet.config in your 3ds Max folder and delete it
( it will be recerated at 3ds Max start with correct content )
  • usually it sits in a subfolder like en-US\plugcfg ( when using english 3ds Max )
  • restart 3ds Max

PS:

i'm not quite sure, but depending on your installation, the file might be somewhere in your user folder

so be sure to search in your Users folder too for that file ( just in case )

Hi spacefrog!

Finally I found the MaxDotNet.config file in three different folders in my 3ds max installation. I deleted the three occurrences and everything works perfectly. Thank you very much!
