Both 2020 and 2021 do it. They are both digital downloads. Thanks

do you have access to a USB Copy the entire installer folder from the installation USB drive to your desktop. Once the folder is copied to your desktop, open it and run the file Setup.exe (the F/X CAD installer file). see if this works  this comes from the autodesk autocad help room they say it's a bug.

https://www.landfx.com/kb/installation-help/fxcad/item/3189-insert.html

i cannot verifiy if this will work with max

I did a search on my hard drive for any directory containing Landfx* (just trying to find the directory containing the f/x installer file ) or F/X* and found nothing. Also in your reference link it references autocad 2016 not 3ds max. are we talking the same issue?

Thanks for getting back with me on a Sunday

Also i did a uninstall and reinstall

So I believe what your saying is this. I copped the following on my usb drive. I will do an uninstall and run setup form the usb drive. Ignoring any FX Setup.exe file as your first reference suggested.

@Anonymous Thanks fro the vote of confidence but I cannot help you with this. I think this is something to ask Autodesk support for help.  I assume 1000's of users are installing Max without a problem so it may be something with your download or computer configuration.

Good luck.

@Anonymous ,

This may be caused by Max having asset paths set to a drive that's no longer connected (external HD, scratch disk, etc.)

This is an old thread, but the suggestions/solutions offered here may help. Please let us know!

Thanks @jon.bell for you input. I checked and verified that the autoback is saving to my hard drive. Is there another area i should check?

But then you said asset path. Could this be a material? Im wondering how i can have any path issues if i did a reinstall.

@Anonymous ,

A 3ds Max reinstall doesn't clear out your customized user preferences; you have to do that manually.

You can do that by following these instructions to reset your preferences.

Please let me know if this helps, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Thanks @jon.bell

I renamed the enu file and that did nothing. I guess I am going to just live with it. The program seems to function fine when i just select continue. hopefully it will not bit me later. Hopefully there will be a patch for it later
