Stubborn keyframe

Hey everyone. First time customer! Only been with MAX 3DS for about 4 weeks now. I am taking an intense course. No previous 3D model experience (quite a bit of 2D!) so I am a mere baby at this. Bear with me on this question and a couple of others:

- Until today, I have had no problems creating keyframes (on a biped matched up to a character). Now I just cannot seem to activate keyframes whether in Auto or Set Mode. I have correct filters on. The only way they show up is if I select the entire model every time I enter a keyframe which really does not work for me. Suggestions?

- While I am at it, another problem is when I isolate a bone and move it, the biped skeleton separates from the character along with the move!

At this point, I would actually pay for some live support as this assignment is due fairly soon and I am under the gun. If you know of a live support company for 3DS MAX, I would love to know!

Thanks so much. I love the program. Just need much time to get used to it. My email is below if it is easier to contact me there.

Hello @Anonymous

Thanks for posting your question on the forums, it's great to have awesome and creative new users here, I want to extend a warm welcome to the Autodesk Community!

As to your question, I would like to clarify a few things first, What version of 3DS Max are you using? Is the issue that you can't see your keyframes unless you select the biped rig, or is the issue that you can't keyframe the biped rig?

It sounds like you can't keyframe anything unless you have the whole rig selected, which is rather irregular, would you mind attaching your scene file? You can do so by zipping up your scene and attaching i your next comment, Or sending me a filesharing link a Private Message.

For isolating individual bones, I would suggest right clicking the selected bone, and selecting hide unselected, as that shouldn't break any connections with the rest of the rig.Screenshot (90).png

Though, the isolate tool in the Tools dropdown seems to not break my current biped rig, so I'm super interested in trying on your file!

If you would like to speak to someone directly in Autodesk support, you can schedule a call through our system here 😄

Talk to you soon,
