Hello all,
Because this is my maiden voyage, that's why I greet you all at the beginning.
I start my adventure with 3Ds Max for aviation and train modeling.
For a smooth and practical learning, I imported a car model.
Walking and learning the basics of the modeling room, I stood still.
I don't understand why in 3D Object Converter, (square model)
when you turn on vertex color shaded, the model becomes smooth,
and in 3Ds max in viewport and especially after export it is slightly angular.
Please tell me where to look, what directives should I use in 3Ds Max?
to smooth the car model.
Greetings to all modelers and designers.
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
Thanks for your question! It looks as if your model is low-poly to begin with, with large triangles (which may increase the appearance of "faceting.") However, to remove the angular look, what you should do is select your geometry, and from the Command Panel > Modify menu, apply a Smooth modifier, then check it to Auto Smooth, that should remove some (if not most) of the faceting. Otherwise, you may have to rebuild the car to higher resolution (increase the number of polys) to help mitigate the flat-shaded appearance.
Please let us know if this helps!
Hi John,
Your help was needed to learn and understand quickly
that the car was badly imported into 3Ds Max.
Export from 3D Object converter was set incorrectly.
You saved me a lot of time, thank you.
3DS Max is a powerful and great tool, great admiration,
thank you again
best regards
Sebastian from Poland
