Set / Save default settings

How do I set or save settings for spicific tools. For example Extrude poly defaults to 10'-0", I'm extruding many objects 30'-0". I would like it to remember and default to 30. Or conform, I never want the 'Conform to' object visible and I always want the offset 0'-0". Thanks.

Hello @Anonymous,

There is currently no way to do this as the values are hard coded for most tools.  You might be able to make a script or macroscript with callbacks when the tool is activated but I'm not sure how you would go about it.  You might ask in the programming subforum and see if they have any ideas on this one.

Best Regards,

Dang, I came here to ask exactly this. The only thing I know of that might be useful is the free HaywoodTools script pack. In particular, a script called Multi Prop Changer, which lets you select multiple objects and set various properties for them en masse, including extrude depth, inset amount, and many more. But this doesn't let you set the defaults for objects you've yet to create, unfortunately.

Hello @Anonymous,

One thing though is that I think the OP was mostly looking for defaults for tools but for objects you can make a button with all the standard or custom settings you'd like.  There was another thread on this... let me see if I can find it. Here it is!  This may help if you don't mind creating a button to create the object.  It may make sense to do a Feature Request and see if those settings can be altered in a future version.

Best Regards,

Well, really I was more looking for a way for MAX to remember my previous settings, like Maya. Hard coding options into a button would work in some situations. But others time it's protect/task spicific. Thanks.
