Select Loop/ Ring by double clicking

Is it possible to customise Max to be able to select Loops by double clicking and Ring select by holding control while double clicking? There were a few threads about this on other forums dating back to 2005 and 2010 with broken links, unfortunately.

Don't have to customize anything.

By default double-clicking will select loop and Shift-click will select ring.

No wonder I didn't notice this before in all these years, my mouse button for double clicking was mistakenly mapped to something else...
It's unfortunate though that shift double clicking to select rings — or any other modifier double click override for that matter — does not exist.
