Search 3ds max commands (X) crashes max

Hi

I don't know what has happened but the Search 3ds max commands (X) crashes my max. Doesn't matter if I press X or choose it from Help menu. After this started to happen I installed 3ds max updates and deleted the "ENU"-folder to reset factory settings, but neither of those helped. Any ideas why?

Thanks

Mikko

Anyone has any ideas why this happens? I re-installed max, but it didn't help.

Does it work if you run 3dsmax as administrator?  Maybe it needs to generate a temp or list file and doesn't have permission?

A recent W11 update caused some problems in other areas, maybe this is related?

You can also check the 3dsmax log files for information about it.  If not thing shows the problem maybe with the OS or system, in which case the windows event viewer might show what caused the crash as well.

Best regards,

Hello @mikko_kovasiipi ,

Try deleting this file: C:\Users\[username]\Autodesk\3ds Max 2025\User Settings\GlobalSearch.ini

Let us know if that helps.
