Rendering Shows Up As Tiled/Repeats Same Scene

Hi,

I'm running into problems when rendering. It's showing up tiled and repeats the same camerascene over and over. How can I get it back to the full view?

Hi,

If you open a new empty max file and created few objects does this tiling happens too?

Did you install any 3rd party plugins lately? if so, does this problem started after installing the plugins?

If you press 8 on the Keyboard and switch to the Effects tab, do you see any entry in the Effects box?

I'm just thinking maybe you installed some render effect plugin.

If nothing works maybe you can try resetting your User Settings:

1- Close 3DS Max

2- go to: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\20xx - xxbit

3- Rename the folder called ENU to something else like ENU.old

4- Restart 3DS Max

Note: AppData is a hidden folder, so you need to enable the visibility of hidden files and folders

From the Control Panel

Thanks for your message. It seems to be only happening to the file I'm working with. I have not installed any plugins. Changing the folder name has no effect.

Maybe, but not sure, you need to update your Graphics Card's driver,

So maybe you should try that by going to the vendor website and check for updates.

But before updating, we can try changing the Graphics Mode to be sure that it's a Video Card Driver issue:

Go to Customize menu, Preferences, Viewports tab, and click the Choose Driver button

change graphics mode.PNG

From the drop-down menu choose a different option than the current one, click Ok and restart Max.

If this also doesn't solve the issue set it back to the Recommended option.

If it works, then like I suggested, try updating your video card driver when you have time.

I'm still in a rut. The graphics are being shown as up to date and changing the driver hasn't affected it.  I'll keep playing around with.

I suggest you upload the scene so I can check it,

I'm using 3DS Max 2018, so I cannot open newer versions.

If you don't want to send the entire scene, just make a copy, remove the geometry, but keep everything

Else, including the camera.

I really appreciate your help. I've been trying to upload the file, but it's way too large. I used pro-optimiser and g(c) to clean it, but it has not affected the size. I guess my next option is to try and import the objects into a new file.

I know this is an old post but I just had this happen and momentarily forgot how to fix it. Seeing as this was never properly answered, here is the fix.

In the Render Setup menu open the GI tab.

If "Project FG Points from positions along camera path" is checked and you are rendering a still image, make sure "Divide Camera path by Num. Segments" is set to 1.

As in my case, this can easily get changed while using the mouse wheel to scroll through your the render settings by accidentally hovering over the pull down menus.
