Which program creates more realistic renderings for interior design, Revit or 3d Max? 

Which is less time-consuming?

Less time consuming in regard to modeling

Revit is more fast for modeling (walls, floors, ceiling), but with 3dsmax you can gain more details especially in furnitures

About rendering,  3dsmax its a more powerful software for this kind of task.  Both softwares can works with vray render engine but in 3dsmax you have more options and flexibility for materials, lights and render configuration.

Can I bring a revit file, with all walls, windows,doors etc into 3d max and then add the furniture?

Yes, you can model the basic content of your projec in revit and then complement it in 3dsmax.

First method is export the revit project into fbx file,  the other method is linking the revit file in 3dsmax.
