Pivot/gizmo randomly rotating 45 degrees

I have multiple designers on my team that are experiencing a bug where the pivot will rotate 45 degress when hovering over a selection, seems to only happen when multiple objects are grouped together.

What could the cause of this be? I'm unable to replicate the issue on my machine, so it's hard to find the problem.

All machines have updated graphics drivers and they don't have any abnormal settings for the viewport/MAX.

Hard to say with the data on hand. What version of 3ds Max are you running.

My first instinct is to check and see if everyone is using the same Reference Coordinate system.

Everyone is running 2022 with all the updates, Corona as render engine.

It happens when they use "View" in the reference coordinate system, the pivot is correct up until they hover the mouse over the selection, then it rotates 45 degrees on/off.

Hmmm...so if they hover over one of the axis constraints and rotate it really does rotate 45 degrees off? Just making sure it not just a visual bug.

I can't see to reproduce this either. Would it be possible for you to attach an archive of a scene that exhibited that issue? I'd like to see how the groups are put together.

Also do your designers have non-standard input devices (i.e. 3D Connexion  mouse, graphic tablets)? For testing purposes I'd unplug them to see if it makes any difference. Same goes for any 3rd party scripts.

It's seems like a visual bug, it doesn't affect the actual axis being used. But it flickers between being "straight" and rotated 45 degrees, making it hard to select the pivot.

One of my designers had the issue with the model I attached, this time it wasn't a group (the object was grouped when imported, then ungrouped)

None of them use a 3D mouse, tablet or anything out of the ordinary.

Would prefer them not to remove any plugins/scripts at this time, as it would "incapacitate" them in regards to production.

If there's no obvious solution we'll try the ENU-way and test the scripts/plugins one by one.

EDIT:
The bug only happens i Ortographic, not in Perspective (doesn't seem to have anything to do with Groups/Helpers as we initially thought)

I'm experiencing the same gizmo rotation issue, but have noticed that the issue only occurs if I have multiple viewports visible. If I maximize to a single viewport, the issue disappears.

I'm using Max 2023, Windows 11, and NVidia RTX 3080 Ti

Example below:
