Ping error when using only my machine

Hello,

I am new to the technical side of rendering so I'll try my best to explain my problem. Back-burner seems to choose randomly whether it wants to render or not. It will get anywhere from midway to 90%+ way through the Rendering process (after gather final gathering points) a render then throw a Ping error message at me and restart rendering. I have tried rendering the file in stripes just in case it was a memory issue. This image is not huge as it’s only 2481 x 1749 pixels. The last stripe crashed throwing the Ping error again. I have taken a screen cap of the error log. I know there is already a post about the Discover_Servers, but would love an update on that too. The only effect on this image is volumetric lights and the boxes failed when it was rendering the carpet where there were no effects interacting with it. The render then tried to render the stripe again and it worked this time.

I look forward to your thoughts and help.

Kristi

Hi Alfred,

Sorry, been a bit crazy here. We used the fixes from the below post link:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-forum/backburner-2016-manager-issue/m-p/7411260#M146328

I didn't quite pay attention to when the Discovery Errors disappeared as they were just a mild annoyance and weren't crashing the render versus my Ping errors which crashed the render and were really throwing my deadlines off. We started with post num 48 and I believe the errors were still there. We then used the fix described in num 54 and the discovery errors were gone but the ping error still occurs. At this point I also had an update from Windows as well so it could be either the fixes or windows that fixed the errors.

I hope that helps. I'm off on holiday tomorrow for 2 weeks, but I am still having Ping error issues. I've bribed my IT helper with patisserie to stay late and help me if you want to do another team viewer session when I get back. While I do have the work around for the Ping error it'd be great to not have to use it.

Hello @Anonymous,

As far as I can tell this issue is with Windows and I have had no luck recreating it on my end.  When you refer to the work around for the ping error, what do you mean there?  What is your workaround?  Thanks for the info.

Have a good vacation and best regards,
