I see that the new Physical Camera has a specific Canon APS-C setting. Does it take the sensor offset in to consideration when calculating the lens distortion?
Kind regards,

Hi Peter,
I have take a look one this new option and has it is Gray by default when changing the settings it seems that it is linked to the Widh and focal lenght settings, so it is not linked to the APS Canon settings, but it could be manualy set, like the motion blur.
Hi Laurent,
Thanks for your reply.
The issue I was curious about was related to the Lens Distortion, rather than the shutter.
My understanding is that a Canon APS-C sensor in film mode uses a crop factor of 1.6, and that the sensor area used is not centred.
This of course affects the lens distortionwhich is based on the optic centre of the lens.
So, I was wondering if this was considered by the settings, or how I might replicate this.
Hi Peter,
As I see from the 3ds Max settings, it will need a manual adjustment.
I have been reviewing the APS-C format Wikipedia informations settings
The image sensor format is also something to consider:
Type | Diagonal (mm) | Width (mm) | Height (mm) | Area (mm2) | Stops (area) | Crop factor[31] |
---|
APS-C | 28.2–28.4 | 23.6–23.7 | 15.60 | 368–370 | -1.23 | 1.52–1.54 |
I haven't found the exact position of the crop, but normaly it should be centered has the crop is always centered.
