Network rendering requires license?

Hi there.

I'm setting up our renderfarm at my College as usual with every release of 3ds Max and now it's time for 2022.

I have installed 3ds Max (which seems way faster now - thank you!), our plugins and our main renderer V-Ray.

All jobs have so far failed on the renderfarm though. I keep getting a "Launcher timed out" error on all jobs - heavy or light, doesn't matter.

As we run everything as services and that in it self produces very little help I tried running 1 of the machines not as a service and starting backburner server manually after logging in and I'm greated by a "Let's get started"-window that wants me to license the render slave. What?

I read the docs and nothing have changed from previous = renderslaves do not need a license.

Am I supposed to login with my own (instructor) login/Autodesk-user?

I have searched everywhere and there's mention of something about Arnold wanting a license, but that is not resolved yet and we're not even using Arnold.

Any ideas guys? Thank you in advance!

Is your 3ds Max 2022, updated with the hotfix? There was a hotfix for network issues, maybe that will help you.

Yep. That was it.
1.3GB manually on the entire farm as the download updates-section didn't work...

Thank you for the help!
