Need for a good gpu

Hello everyone. I am building a new Pc and would like some feedback on what Gpu should i buy because my knowledge is very limited as far as pc hardware goes. I am using 3ds max 2018 and corona renderer.Budget is 200-250 euros for gpu. Specs: r5 1600 , 8 giga ram 3000mhz

I am not a professional and most of these cards are very expensive or they dont sell them anymore.

Corona is a CPU renderer, so the GPU will simply be driving your viewport.

You don't need a cutting edge GPU, or a Quadro workstation card for great performance. 

I would recommend a GTX 970, they're the previous series of Nvidia Graphic Cards, but they're still nicely powerful with a decent amount of VRAM. 
So it would still be useful if you switched to a GPU renderer in the future.

Take the money saved and throw in another stick or two of RAM.  8 GB is a little low, especially for CPU rendering.

 

If you do go with an earlier generation of GPU watch out for old driver versions.  Newer software is optimized for the latest version of DirectX (especially if you're running Win 10) which may not be supported on earlier driver versions, or at all.  That can lead to frustrating crashes and/or limited performance.
