Morpher preserve UVs in 3DS Max 2016

Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to edit an object with the tool morpher
while preserving the UVs.

Yes, at least in Max 2019, its totally possible to retain a UVW map after applying a morpher modifier. What version of Max are you using currently?

 

Depending on how drastic the morph target mesh is, the more drastic the potential stretching would be. Here is a screenshot of what I tested.

Hello Hagen Deloss, thank you for answering me.

The version I use is the 2016, but as you can see it seems that the UVW card does not retain.T41im.png

 

 

I do not know if it is due to a bad manupulation or that I do not have the good version.

I think I have a better understanding of what your looking for. You would like the morpher tool to also change the UVW to match the morph target. I don't believe there's a way to have the UV's morph at the same time as the mesh with the morpher tool alone.

 

So I tested a few things. I first tested to see if you could get the desired results with keyframing the texture map itself...which is possible, but would require a lot of finesse. You would need to apply the UVW, then the morpher modifiers, and animate the UVW map by memory, which isn't ideal.

 

A colleague also suggested using  a camera map modifier to project the texture, but I haven't figured out how to get this to work, it still stretches with the geometry currently, I will keep you updated on if we figure out another workflow for this.

Hello.
I found a solution to work around the problem,
As you can see below I add UVW map, I can then edit the morpher and the texture is not distorted on the object.

This system works for me, the object is only a simple surface but for those who have objects of more complex form this system does not work.

I thank you for your help.
