Model is not displaying properly if I applied shell modifier in 3DS MAX:

The model is fine without applying shell but whenever I applied shell the interior look model topology distorted why is that? As far I know the shell make the inner or outer copy of that model which means it does not should be display like that

Also, If I remove vertical edges then there is some problem inside the shell model. It is hard to explain so here is the link for clarification:
