MAXToA Toolbar how remove?

After installation Arnold 5.7.4  there is a toolbar that keeps popping up that won't remove and is always docked on the left side.
How to remove it permanently?

I'm afraid that is not possible. But you can make it permanently invisible using functions in Customize User Interface...

I just want to get that panel off the screen.

Can you tell me how to do that?

Did you test that with the latest Android versions ?

Since a few versions, the MAXToA toolbar always becomes visible  each 3ds MAx launch for me
And yes - i have save UI on Exit enabled and also experience when i explicitly save the ui configuration

Ehm - I've just checked it, and no, it didn't work! So there must be a mechanism that is restoring certain UI components regardless what I'm doing. I even cannot remove my own toolbars (but at least make them permanently invisible).

Hint: Go to

C:\Users\yournamehere\Autodesk\3ds Max 2024\User Settings\MAXtoA

Remove the file

MAXtoA_user.cuix

I suspect the MAXToA plugin(s) ( there's a whole load of them ) generates the toolbar internally itself if it doesnt exist. Pretty intrusive behaviour IMHO, as this what not the case until several versions ago
Maybe earlier MAXToA versions did not even come with a specific toolbar ...
don't know it honestly ..

Maybe the defaults folder in AppData?  I think that's where it draws new information from, but that may not be true anymore.

I investigated further and now i'm 100% sure that the toolbar gets recreated by the Arnold main plugin (MAXtoA.dlr) each launch. And additionally gets created using the same vanilla name countless other docked 3ds Max toolbars use.

So its even not possible to catch the toolbar window at creation and send a close message ( would be happy to be proven wrong ..). Only after you undock the toolbar , it inherits a correct window caption ( "MAXToA Toolbar" ) and you can hide it using the following maxscript snippet.

(
    wInfo = windows.getChildHWND 0 "MAXToA Toolbar"
    if wInfo != undefined do windows.sendMessage wInfo[1] 0x0010 0 0
)

but as mentioned, this only works after the toolbar has been undocked....

Sounds bad, worth reporting?

Such a little problem, so much headache...

Ok, at least I've found a way to get rid of my own toolbars. Here is how:

First, go to Preferences.../General and uncheck Save UI Configuration on Exit (you never know...)
Now, make your changes of the ui. E.g, to remove a toolbar, open Customize User Interface, Toolbar tab. In the right list, select the toolbar name and click Delete...
Save your new configuration using Save Custom UI Scheme... under a new name.
Now, open the Workspaces menu (far right of the Menu row), select Manage Workspaces and save the active workspace as New with a different name.
Using Save Custom UI Scheme... again, save the ui as MaxStartUI.ui to
C:\Users\yournamehere\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2024 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\UI\
Quit and restart Max and activate Save UI Configuration on Exit.
Maybe one or more of these steps is optional - I don't know...

Now if someone could try removing the Arnold Toolbox that way, please. I don't want to loose it...

Hello,

Go to the "Customize" menu in 3ds Max, then select "Customize User Interface." In the window that opens, switch to the "Toolbars" tab and find the Arnold toolbar. You can right-click and select the "Close" option. Additionally, this setting will be saved when you turn 3ds Max off and on again. If it still appears, you can try restarting the program.

Enjoy your work.

I reverted my 3ds Max 2025.2 installation back to 2025.1 ( due to the performance issues with 2025.2 mentioned in another thread ), and for some reason i don't understand , the MAXToA toolbar now doesnt open any longer automatically. The other versions (2024 ) still open it automatically though ...

Do you actually use Arnold?

You can remove the plugin in the applicationplugins folder somewhere in : programfiles\autodesk\max\
