MAX -> OBJ Exporting Issue #3. Annoying Raytrace_Raytrace.jpg

Hello,

I am trying to convert a bunch of models from MAX to OBJ. Since I'm a rookie, I have a lot of issues.

The third issue is all about Raytrace_Raytrace.jpg. Almost every exported model has Raytrace_Raytrace.jpg file as map_refl for some materials in MTL file.

This Raytrace_Raytrace.jpg is ALWAYS a pitch black square, so I don't get its purpose. The problem is this file ruins any rendering process turning model into a single black shape. It is possible to solve the problem by deleting this Raytrace_Raytrace.jpg, but I guess it's possible to deal with the issue 'in a consistent manner' by changing some OBJ exporting options.

What should I do to to solve this problem once for all?

Thanks in advance for your attention.

Hi,

One way to deal with this is to open the material editor, and look for any Raytrace material in the Maps Rollout

Another way, in the OBJ Export Options, uncheck the options "Export Materials",

And "Create mat-library"

Thank you for the solution. I also noticed another black square called Mask_Mask.jpg. What's the purpose of these black squares?
