There are some other threads here on the forum about the problems with SME that shipped with Max 2024. I was released with a lot of serious bugs that we have to live with for now until they get patched.
Another bad one is that keystrokes don't work properly. Be careful if you are in SME and hit the 'delete' key thinking you are deleting a meterial or a map because it will delete whatever mesh you have in a viewport instead. If you happen to save the file and didn't notice the mesh was deleted it might be problematic. To delete anything in Max 2024 SME get used to just hitting the 'Trashcan' icon instead. It's a pain but I will save you from deleting things in your model.
It would help if you report them in the right place. They may not get noticed as easily here since this is a User to User forum and the developers on nececessarily come here much.
