Max 2016: Groups cause viewport slowdown

I noticed that when you have about 200 or more objects in a group, viewport performance drops dramatically. I tested on 2 different PCs. Can anyone else try the following and report if you notice the slowdown:

1. In an ampty scene create a box and make 200-300 clones.

2. Group them. Make sure you don't open the group.

3. a) Place the mouse cursor over the group and start zooming in and out with the mouse wheel. Make sure the mouse cursor is above some of the objects in the group.

3. b) Try selecting the group. There will be a substancial lag before the group gets selected.

Try stacking them vertically, then make an implied crossing window selection, first making sure the 1st point of the window is above, and on top of multilayered entities.. with selection cycling on. Annoying yeah?

The selection cycling menu pops up when making a selection over multiple entities... it shouldn't; Selection cycling should only pop up in single-pick operations. The user is just trying to make a window..  not pick something residing below a layer.

The 1st point of a window shouldn't invoke a selection cycling window... no matter how many layers the 1st point is on top of.

To me, that is a lot more broken.

Reported to devs as 2nd edition bug. Case ongoing.

I had the same problem.

Switching off overlay AND outline of selection/preview + disabling "display children" AND "auto expand to selection in Scene Explorer/Display helped a lot.

Update: I deleted old trackscripts from c:\usersUSERNAMEAppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2016 - 64bit\ENU\usermacros

for some weird reason it duplicated isolated selection in keyboard shortcuts.

Than i added alt+q as a shortcut for isolated selection toggle and now it is faster. Evern grouped boxes are not a problem. So i think that the part of problem can be legacy macroscripts...
