Max 2008 MR Crash

I am getting these errors with Max 2008

"mental ray has encountered a fatal error and the application will now close. The error is: DB 0.14 fatal: accesing unknown tag 0x1000441"

"DB 0.13 Fatal accessing unknown tag" is another error number.

The scene is comprised of geometry only (240k polys).
Sometimes it crashes right to the desktop without this error.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Are these memory locations?

After doing some other reading, some had suggested playing with the raytrace acceleration and changing it to grid.

This solved the issue and I was able to render on both work stations.

I have no idea as to the impact on the total project.
