Match camera view to surveyed coordinates

Hi - Could someone help on the best workflow for matching a camera to an image (landscape)? - if I have a set of surveyed X,Y,Z coordinates (spots on buildings/lamp posts etc.) within the view - and the X,Y,Z coordinates for the camera location?

I have a set of surveyed coordinates (marked as 2 cones pointing up and down to that point - so that they are easy to see in the render), that have been imported into 3DS Max via Autocad Map 3D.

I would like to match the camera location to the coordinates it was taken at - and then the view to match the surveyed coordinates - so that the 3D space matches the Photo view exactly - allowing the import of a building model for a photomontage.

I'm making the move to 3DS Max from Rhino, as I'm already using Autocad and Map 3D. Previously I've set the X,Y, Z coordinates (same method with cones) and camera location, then tweaked the camera in Rhino until I get the everything in line.

Searching seems to bring up the camera matching utility. I'm struggling to find a starting point for this method.

Thanks in advance..

If you do have coords for survey points, the Camera Match Utility could be the way to go. Look it up in the Help, or Google for tutorials. There used to be a tutorial for it with Max, but I don't think it is included anymore.
