Hello everyone,

I have a problem with rendering, after some time of working in 3ds max, when i try to render some scene, in frame buffer window is all black, like there is no light, but there is and all set up properely. In order for it to work, i need to restart 3ds max, and after that, it works completely normal in start.. until the same thing happens again after a certain time, and i have to repeat the process (to restart program). Does anyone know what the problem is, could it be graphic drivers or something, or it is a software problem?

I have 3ds max 2019, and I am rendering with V-Ray engine.

Hi Bajoneth,

Thanks for your question. It's a bit difficult to tell exactly what's going on here, because this may indicate corruption in your scene file or 3ds Max user preferences.

However, it sounds offhand as if you may be having memory issues, either on your main PC or your graphics card if you're doing GPU rendering with V-Ray. Either your PC or GPU is running out of memory, or you may have a bad DIMM in your machine (possibly).

  1. Can you give us an idea of your overall scene specifications (file size, render size, number of objects/polygons/textures used?)
  2. Can you post your system specs? CPU, RAM, video card, video card driver version and date?
  3. Finally, have you checked with the technical support folks at the Chaos Group (makers of V-Ray) to see if they've encountered this issue before?

Please let us know, and we hope to hear from you soon!

Take care,
