you need to manually select it then delete.. if you know the name/s press H on key board and it will show up all objects in your scene. select those items you dont want then press delete button

You might wanna check this - www.scriptspot.com/forums/3ds-max/scripts-wanted/duplicate-object-finderselecter
Other user reply that it works for their task. But I haven't use it on my own yet. You could give it a try.

Hello @minhphuong_humg,

Did any of these suggestions work for you?  I wanted to add one more, and that is using the Select Similar and Select Instances function and shown below.  There are also other scripts that can select by poly count or other criteria such as SoulBurn Scripts.

@Alfred.DeFlaminis

As I see, Select Similar and Select Instances only select all objects that share the same certain properties but not only those duplicated in position (they're redundant but take time to select and delete) which is problem in the given question. I use those 2 commands a lot and they're just good for what they supposed to... not help much with duplicated objects (only for selection and isolate the set).

You see he asked about "Overkill" is a command in AutoCAD to remove the line/spline,etc... that overlap each others in a drawing (with threshold control value adjustable).

I see @5vil, I'm not very familiar with AutoCAD so I must have misunderstood.  Thanks for the clarification!  I did a search on the command for AutoCAD and discussed it with an AutoCAD support person, but I don't think Max has a command that is similar to overkill.

@rendermaster: I might sounds like I offend you (which absolutely not).

But did you misplace your answer to another topic or something else? Even the 1st answer by you are more reasonable than the last. Those 3 scripts you mentioned has nothing to do with the problem in original question.

He ask about cleaning duplicated objects (e.g situation when a file was merged into another file more than one times and objects are co-exist in same positions, happened by accident or uncareful merge) not cleaning models. Just write it down to make sure other readers won't misunderstand anymore.

@5vil

nope you are not....

its just that the script i mentioned are some supplements and or tools in cleaning an object as presented like the overkill command. That's why i mentioned, with the word CHECK THIS. Anyhow i still go with my previous reply in dealing with the situation.

@rendermaster
That is why I said you misplace the 2nd answer. You clearly didn't use AutoCAD and have no idea what the "overkill" command do (which is normal 'coz they're 2 separated softwares) so you mention 3 scripts that definitely nothing releavant to the problem. You still try to answer with irrelevant contents despite you don't use the software and command in question (would even make more users confused and misunderstand afterward). Your 1st answer is reasonable, you're not aware of overkill command, it's fine, but after the command got exposed you still come up with 2nd answer that totally irrelavant.. that's odd, man.

Overkill doing is erase (killing) the overlap CAD objects. Like when you draw a line, snap vertices and draw another one exactly overlaps the 1st line. These overlapping could be more than 2 times, and Overkill command be able to erase those redudant object (line, pline, etc...) leaving only 1 line at the end. Completely different with any of those 3 scripted.. they're all about subobject modification.

But anyway, I'm end here 'coz this's 3ds max forum.

I clearly stated "CHECK THIS, it might help in cleaning the model". If it help, then its fine, If not then be it. No argument right.

Hello @minhphuong_humg,

Did any of the suggestions by @5vil or @rendermaster work for you?  The answer to this problem will likely come from a scripted solution as the default installation does not have this functionality.

@rendermaster and @5vil,

I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you that tacos are delicious.  Thank you.

@Alfred.DeFlaminis Hello, I'm not against you or anyone in this topic but the picked solution is a joke. Literally.

System of solution get picked for people can find helpful answer afterward. But this time it failed. (I know it was picked by user)

And I'm not subborn. But it's about the fact. Like 2+2=4. And if the solution is 3 then clearly the system failed. Anyone works seriously with CAD and Max will know this picked solution doesn't help at all. I can't help but feel ridiculous about all of this.

@minhphuong_humg, if you don't mind can you please fill me a in about about how you solved your issue?  I really appreciate it!  If a script in there has a function that helped to create this overkill function, can you please let me know a bit on how it solved the problem?  Thanks so much!
