How to place 3d furnitures into 360 image?

Hi Talents,

Is anyone know how to place 3d furntires into a interior 360 Panorama image?

Is it a way to get 360 camera from image and do camera matching in 3dsmax?

Thanks

Feng

Very interesting and challenging matter. 🙂

I don't think it will be much concern if you're to work on still panorama.

As you may already know, panoramas are the image of the entire 360 degree surrounding onto a flat image plane, so if you project your image onto a sphere and look towards the surface of the sphere from its center, you obtain a perfect image from that viewpoint. The panorama images are 2:1 ratio, namely an image of eg. 1000x500 resolution.

  • Create a sphere
  • Create a panorama compatible camera at the exact center
  • Look at the appropriate point and align your object roughly
  • If you change your viewpoint, you'll notice that the object is already matching the environment perfectly wherever you look
  • The center of the panorama image is your virtual camera's point of view, so it is better if you move your camera target at that center.

This is what happens when you look towards -let's say- the cube:

It still matches and still works, only your initial viewpoint will become the cube. You'll be looking downwards initially, your open image horizon will not be a straight line.

  • Now hide your sphere and render your object as a panorama rendering.

The open form of the projections will match

You can actually assign your panorama as a spherical environment as it is also a spherical projection.

You can also use your rendering talent to assign the panorama image as an IBL source and your object will be illuminated as in the panorama.

If you need to cast shadows on the panorama image using a Matte/Shadow system, again do your setup inside the sphere. This might seem tricky at times but it's actually simple when you're inside the sphere.image.png

I use Corona render in panorama works, but rest assured, I'm not infected. 😄
