How to create a high res game asset in 3DS Max.

you can select the same about of Polygons on the front of the model and the ones on the top and then under edit geometry in Polygon selection. You can click the deattach tick/check the box deattch as clone, this will clone the Polygon and keep the same Polygon on the original model that is not the best way to do it. i am not sure how you are gonna thinken it up if you add a shell that will look wrong i think

 

This is not the best way of modeling the top part of the model maybe someone else has some ideas

Great to hear from you on the forums! That looks like a 3D game asset with a normal map applied along with a nice texture map.

 

The game asset pipeline utilizes a lot of tools in 3DS Max, I found a pretty straightforward breakdown of how to start that process, and tips and tricks to be aware of along the way! here are the videos.
