Help! Can't delete Xrefs

I've inherited a model with a bunch of XRefs and BLocks that don't show up in the model but show up in the Selection Floater. I can't delete them, they don't show up in the Xref dialog, I can't do anything with them. Problem is, several pieces of geometry that I need are somehow grouped or linked or otherwise connected to some of these rogue Xrefs. Nothing I do ungroups or unlinks or explodes the Xrefs or Blocks. Nothing is frozen or hidden.

I sure could use some help.

If an object is xreffed in, it will show up in the Xref dialog. Check both the Xref Objects and Xref Scene. That's where you want to remove the xref objects.

Blocks, if you are referring to objects named BLOCK... blah blah blah, are usually from imported CAD blocks. I see these a lot when importing furniture plans. You should be able to select them through the select by name dialog, if they show up in there. Deleting them will cause the linked linework to lose it's position usually, so be careful.

If that isn't working, check the Layer Properties of the layer it's on to make sure it isn't frozen or something.

Thanks for the reply.

Both Xref dialogs are empty. I can select both Xrefs and Blocks but they won't delete. Layer properties all expanded show nothing frozen or hidden. There are no group or assembly options.

That is very strange. Not sure what to suggest, other than the old standby of merging everything you want to keep into a new scene. Hopefully they don't come with! :)

I have the same problem.
I think it depends on the Advantage Pack, because it works fine on my second system that advantage pack hasnot been installed on it.

The Advantage Pack is for 2011, not 2010. This forum is for 2010 issues, not 2011.

@3ddesign - please confirm that this is a 2010 specific issue.

@eh_gm - please be careful that you don't confuse things by offering 2011 related advice in a 2010 specific forum. If you have this problem in 2011 then you should create your own thread in the 2011 forum, however, before doing so please wait for 3ddesign to confirm which version he is working with - it may be more appropriate for this thread to be moved (rather than creating another on the same subject).

Here is my soulution to fix this problem.

Press H to load the "sort Ascending" window. Find the name of the xref scence or model name in the xref sence. then delete it.

Maybe some reason happen in the progress of working in file, that still exist in the file and we just have to find it and close it
