Garment maker not working

I have 3ds Max 2016 student version on my computer. I'm trying to do the tutorial on effects for the garment maker. I've gotten to the Simulation Parameters. When I click Simulate Local (Damped), nothing happens. I've included a screenshot that shows exactly where I'm at in the tutorial. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello @Anonymous,

I'd be happy to help with this, would it be possible for you to attach the file for me?  I know it's in the tutorials, but it may be something specific with your current file.  Thank you very much for doing so.

Are you referring to the file from the start of the tutorial? Is it the \scenes\effects\cloth folder\fashion_model_start.max? If that is the one, I've attached it. If it isn't the correct file, then I don't know which one to send.

Hello @Anonymous,

I was just referring to your current file that the screenshot was taken from, but no biggie.  I think I know where the problem is, I have a screenshot below.  If you follow from the word "start" it should make sense but please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!  Note that this image doesn't have arrows for the body/collision changes, but those still need to be done as per the tutorial.  It just got too hard to read with those arrows in there too.

I followed your directions. For the final step your diagram shows selecting Simulate Local instead of Simulate Local (damped) as per the tutorial. When I selected Simulate Local, the pattern went through the body and, then the program shut down.

Hello @Anonymous,

That's my mistake, please use simulate local (damped).  I will update the image.  Thanks for pointing it out.  If you find the cloth is going through the body, then the body object must not have saved the "collision" information on the bottom of the cloth object properties tab.  If necessary, go back in there and double check that it is set that way.  (Each object in the list has separate properties.)

Hello @Anonymous,

Glad to hear it!   Thanks again for pointing out my error there, I wouldn't have liked that to be wrong for future users.  Pretty cool tutorial overall, hard to believe it's been in Max for so long!  It was good to see you again!
