Framebuffer no longer clears?

Not applicable

I am coming from Max 2014 to 2016. I have been using it a bit, less than a few months, and something just happened that completely surprised me, in a good way for a change.

I rendered a region and the mental ray frame buffer didn't go black. I literally gasped. In 2014, my render region cleared the frame buffer every time making it necessary to use compositing to fit pieces together if i needed to change 1 thing on a long render, which is kind of annoying. The frame buffer not clearing is so incredibly helpful, such a time saver.

My question is this, is this a new updated feature or some setting that has eluded me all these years?

Hello @Anonymous,

I'm glad you are pleasantly surprised here!  Truth is that in 2014 it didn't clear the frame buffer either, so there must have been some sort of conflict or maybe an older MaxStart file or something that was messing with your frame buffer.  I'm glad you are happy though, I personally have had great experiences with 2016 and I hope you do too!
