FPS Mismatch

I made an animation in 3ds max 2018 at the frame rate of 30 fps......

It plays well in the max environment ........but when I export it to

Avi it does not play properly............

How to fix this problem......

Hi @dvgbaokar ,

How are you playing back the .avi file? Are you using a Media Player or loading it into an editing program, such as Premiere or After Effects?

The player itself or the editor should determine the frame rate of the video, and it may be interpreting it automatically as 24 fps because of the resolution. You should be able to set the playback speed in whatever program you're loading it into or playing it back with. Hope this helps!

I import the image sequence in After Effects........And adjust the frame per Second in that  according to the max

file ie.30 FPS.........Actually it is a Car animating along a path for some seconds.........The problem occurs in the rotation

of the wheels of the car ............In max environment it plays accurately..........but when I export it for movie making in any

software the rotation of the wheels do not seem to be accurate ..................Actually it involves lots of efforts and calculations to get it right in max itself..........And after so much of efforts when export does not give accurate results

it hurts.........All efforts in vain..............

The problem you are running into is that the FPS and the speed of the car are at odds here.  It's not uncommon, check out this helicopter shot.   Or more commonly in car tires (good vid).

The reason in max it 'plays accurately' is that you are probably manually moving the slider at a pace which isn't 30 fps.  If you do a preview animation, you'll get a more accurate take on what the fps actually looks like.

Presently the use of depth of field, motion blur, and camera settings help to make wheels sell well on screen.  Motion blur in particular can make a big difference, though does take longer to render.
