Fluids and gravitational center?

I am trying to figure out how to create sphere of fluid, get it active with splashing and turbulence and then have the fluid return to the sphere. In the video from Autodesk at about 20 seconds, it looked to me like they were doing something very similar to what I'm looking to do.

I've been playing around with gravity and gravity nodes and have managed to do some of what I want except get the fluid to return to the sphere. It keeps wanting to flow away from the sphere. Any ideas?

Maybe this is a guided simulation with a sphere animated and a motion field for the turbulence?

Guess this was done by Martin Coven from Autodesk, so you might ask for a quick tutorial?

I'm pretty sure you're right about it being a motion field. Still haven't figured out how to make the center of a sphere be the gravitational center for the fluid. I'll see about contacting Martin Coven.

Well... sent Martin Coven a message on Facebook (only place I could find to send him a message) and didn't get a reply. Still haven't figured it out. 😛

I get all cool effects with guided simulation and a pulsing sphere, but i can`t get the fluid pulled back to the sphere again.Smiley Sad

I found a way of doing something similar with multiple motion fields  and boundaries from spheres.

Sure. I could see that as a way to kind of simulate the effect, but it would be nice to figure out a way to actually accomplish the effect. Seems like a spherical gravity force would do the trick, but I don't think any of the forces outside of Motion Field are currently working with the fluid system.

Hello! Sorry I didn't get your message on Facebook. I haven't been on it in about 1.5 years. 🙂

I did set that scene up. I'll try to find it and post it here. If I remember correctly, I was using a couple of motion fields. One was using an audio file to influence the fluid out, and then I had a second larger one to slowly gravitate it back to the center. I also set gravity to 0.

Best,

Martin

Thanks for the information, Martin! It would be awesome to take a look at your scene and see if I can get the same kind of thing working for what I'm doing. Thanks for getting back to me! 🙂
