Is it possible to create an animation of a building construction sequence including the delivery of the components on a flatbed trailer and then the components being flown into place? The rendering would need to include the surrounding buildings. The purpose of the animation is to demonstrate the building could be constructed with minimal laydown area and minimal disruption to surrounding buildings.

Hi,

Yes this is absolutely possible with 3ds Max.

But i believe that you should look at the Autodesk Software specifically design for what you are looking for,

Autodesk Naviswork

Make sure to read carefully about Naviswork.

If you start from scratch and don't have any 3d models of your construction site, and you don't have any 3d Software at this moment, 3ds Max or Revit are probably better solutions.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. Almost every Navisworks animation I've seen shows the pieces "appearing" but not flying in. What I need to demonstrate is the impact of the construction sequence on the neighboring streets and buildings. Specifically, I need to demonstrate the pieces can be delivered, picked up by a crane, and set in place with minimal impact to the surrounding area. Can Navisworks do this?

I would say yes, but i didn't used Naviswork for the last 4-5 years, not sure anymore, and this software evolve rapidly over time.

My best recommendation would be to download a trial version and test some animation yourself. If you have an Autodesk Collection subscription, you may already have access to this software.
